about
de manning

Georgina Owassapian, professional alias de Manning, (b. 2000) is a Swiss-Australian multidisciplinary artist whose practices spans across airbrushing, painting, video art and game development.

Drawing inspiration from poetry and classical literature, she uncovers the historical ties between painting and the written word. By using experimental materials, from newly invented colours to unconventional substrates, de Manning contextualises the historical amongst the contemporary. The legacy, and destruction, of the Western Canon finds its home in her faux bookshelves.

Being part of Generation Z, de Manning weaves the intricacies of internet culture into her installations. Commenting on the absurdity of internet etiquette, she replicates the multitude of images fed to people on a daily basis through repetition and over-saturation.

After receiving funding from Screen Australia’s Emerging Gamemakers Fund, she has begun working on a visual novel, Night Shift: 1999, that is founded on the basis that art and video games are one and the same.
